As the Director of Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental, Daniel is committed to building a strong safety culture founded on continued education, strong leadership, and positive feedback. He is dedicated to the safety of those around him and the importance of forming partnerships in achieving continued success, advocating “People First, Safety Always”.

A veteran of the United States Army and former Firefighter – EMT, Daniel has a unique perspective on the impact safety plays in our everyday lives. As a Certified Safety Manager with 14 years of experience, he has an inherent ability for program development and execution, operations, safety compliance and reporting, budgeting, administration, and team building.

While at EMSI, Daniel has focused his efforts on providing safety resources that are easily accessible to employees and clients. He has achieved this through the adoption of EHS Insight; an application which allows EMSI to provide instantly accessible safety training as well as safety equipment performance and tracking information for employees. Field personnel also use the app to access the company safety manual, SOPs, computer-based safety training modules and Safety Data Sheets.

Daniel has a true passion for the safety of EMSI employees, he demonstrates this by familiarizing himself with site-specific safety regulations and performing onsite facility audits, ensuring standard operating procedures are understood and implemented. Under his leadership, the EHS program has expanded their efforts by joining forces with industry leaders to establish safe work practices within the safety community.

EMSI was awarded the 2017 Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award and recognized by Inc. 5000 as one of 2016 Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies in America. In addition, EMSI has been the recipient of numerous Contractor Safety Excellence Awards from some of the nation’s largest oil refiners including, ExxonMobil and Chevron Phillips.
