Shawnica serves as Emission Monitoring Service, Inc., Executive Director of Organizational Development where her drive for continuous improvement and process streamlining results in EMSI staff being well prepared to provide excellent customer service. Under her direction are the IT, Human Resources, Training & Development and Facility Maintenance teams.

Shawnica’s career of environmental stewardship started with her role as a Technician and has progressed through the positions of Quality Analyst, Scientist, Chemist and Laboratory Manager prior to joining EMSI. Her progressive experience crosses industries, including accomplishments in the drinking water, air emissions and the beverage industries. The combination of diverse roles and varied industry exposure contributes to her ability to understand the challenges at the field and management levels which allows her to develop relevant training and process improvement initiatives that support increased field staff availability while meeting administrative needs. An example of this is the integration of technology and cloud-based training in the employee on-boarding and qualification process.

Shawnica is recognized as an expert in the areas of Employee and Organizational Development, Human Resources, Finance and Method/Procedure Development. Consistent with her passion for developing others, Shawnica is the founder of the Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Education Institute at Lone Star College. She’s also an active member of the Society of Human Resources Professionals (SHRM), and Women in STEM Institute (WISE).

Shawnica holds a Bachelor of Science in General Science: Biology & Chemistry and a Master of Science Degree in Public Health & Environmental Health Sciences. She has continued her education by achieving Executive Certification in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame and others. Shawnica lives in the Houston area with her family.
